The Daily Nole — June 7, 2018: Raleigh Wins National Player of the Month

Lead Story

The 2018 season didn’t end the way Florida State catcher Cal Raleigh had hoped with consecutive losses in the Tallahassee Regional, but the junior will get a nice individual recognition to end the season.

On Wednesday, Raleigh was named the National Player of the Month by NCBWA. During the month of May, Raleigh hit .452 with eight doubles, six home runs and 18 RBIs while leading the Seminoles to a second straight ACC Tournament title.

Raleigh’s career at FSU may be over. He was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the third round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft on Monday.

FSU track and field began the NCAA Championships on Wednesday.

FSU track and field will continue the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday.

FSU shot putter Austin Droogsma finished seventh in the shot put to win first-team All-American honors.

FSU reliever Jonah Scolaro was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
