Florida State relief pitcher Jonah Scolaro would probably prefer to be preparing for the NCAA Super Regionals this weekend, but he’ll have to settle for an individual honor.

Scolaro, according to Collegiate Baseball, was named a Freshman All-American for his performance during the 2018 season. Scolaro finished with a record of 2-1 and a 3.43 ERA.

A lefty from Valrico, Scolaro led the Seminoles and ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in saves with six. Scolaro struck out 60 batters in 44 2/3 innings, which was tops among FSU players with fewer than five starts.

Among such players, only sophomore Clayton Kwiatkowski threw more innings. Scolaro’s 27 appearances led the team.
