Seminole Sunday Summary: FSU Football Crushes UMass for Third Straight Win

Florida State athletics

For the first time since 2017, Florida State football has a 3-game winning streak. The Seminoles celebrated homecoming at Doak Campbell Stadium with a 59-3 romp over Massachusetts.

A fumble on the opening kickoff by Travis Jay led to an early UMass field goal, but that was one of the few lowlights for FSU. The Seminoles finished with 586 yards to 241 for the Minutemen.

Eight different Seminoles found the end zone on Saturday. Jordan Travis rushed for a score while Cubba Purdy threw two. Jarvis Brownlee returned an interception 70 yards for FSU’s first non-offensive touchdown of the season. Jammie Robinson also added an interception in the win.

Finding the end zone for FSU in addition to Travis and Brownlee were Jashaun Corbin, Treshaun Ward, D.J. Williams, Camren McDonald, Lawrance Toafili and Jordan Young. Corbin rushed for a game-high 127 yards in the victory.

The 59 points was the most points scored by FSU against an FBS opponent since the 2015 opener against Texas State. It also marked the first time that FSU did not allow a touchdown since October 2016 against Wake Forest.

With the win, FSU improves to 3-4. It will travel to take on Clemson on Saturday.
