For the second year in a row, Florida State pitcher Cobi Johnson has heard his named called.

Johnson was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 896th overall pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday. Johnson was taken by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last year in the 29th round. Toronto has selected Johnson in the 30th round.

Fresh off Tommy John Surgery, Johnson elected to return for a redshirt junior season in 2018, but was used sparingly. Johnson was 0-1 with a 3.54 ERA in 20 1/3 innings this season.

Toward the end of the year, Johnson was used a bit at the plate. Johnson was 3-for-12 with a home run and seven RBIs as a hitter.

Johnson becomes the seventh Seminole to be selected in this year’s draft. He will have the option of returning for a redshirt senior season.
