The Daily Nole — Sept. 10, 2018: FSU’s Pak Wins Rod Myers Invitational

It’s Monday, Florida State fans. As a new week begins, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State men’s golf began the year with a fourth-place finish at the Rod Myers Invitational on Sunday, but one FSU sophomore did take home the individual crown.

John Pak led by six strokes entering the final round and finished the 2-day tournament at -13 to run away with first-place. Duke’s Chandler Eaton finished in second place at -6. The next best finish for an FSU player was from Corey Carlson, who finished tied for 17th at even par.

Penn State managed to take the team title in Durham at -12 as a team — two strokes better than both Duke and North Carolina. The Seminoles were a distant fourth at -4.

Between the Lines

In addition to men’s golf, the women’s team began the Cougar Classic in Charleston. FSU soccer wrapped up the non-conference with a 2-0 win over South Alabama on Sunday.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s golf will resume the Cougar Classic on Monday.

News and Notes

The ACC will announce players of the week for various sports on Monday.

The Sept. 22 contest between FSU and Northern Illinois will begin at 3:30 p.m. EST and air on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

FSU will wear white on gold next Saturday against Syracuse.
