It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. As your weekend comes to a close, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

On a night where Florida State legend Burt Reynolds was honored with a helmet decal, FSU’s on-field performance was anything but legendary. In the end, the Seminoles rallied past Samford to give head coach Willie Taggart his first win, 36-26.

FSU trailed by as many as 13 early and 26-21 with less than five minutes to play. The Seminoles went ahead for good on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Deondre Francois to Tre’ McKitty with 4:03 left.

Like predecessors Jimbo Fisher and Bobby Bowden, Taggart lost his first game against FBS competition when the Seminoles fell to Virginia Tech on Labor Day. Taggart will look to get his first win against FBS competition next week as FSU travels to take on Syracuse.
