The Daily Nole — May 29, 2018: Baseball Gets National Seed, Regional Opponents

As you prepare for the big baseball and softball games at the end of the week, keep it here for the latest in Florida State athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State baseball received the No. 7 national seed and learned who its opponents would be for the Tallahassee Regional. The NCAA unveiled the full tournament bracket on Monday afternoon.

The top eight seeds for the NCAA Tournament all receiving hosting bids for the super regional. That means every FSU game up until the College World Series will be held in Dick Howser Stadium. Before the ACC tournament began, Florida State was on the outside looking in when it came to the top eight seeds. Its strong performance and eventual ACC championship helped secure its spot.

The Seminoles did receive a tough draw when it came to their regional opponents. They will face off against the No. 4 Samford Bulldogs to begin the tournament. Assuming they win that game, they will face the winner of No. 2 seed Mississippi State and No. 3 seed Oklahoma.

FSU baseball’s seeding and regional opponent announcements were the only events on Monday.

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.
