The Daily Nole — May 30, 2018: Malik Osborne Transfers to Florida State

Jeremy Esbrandt

We hope you have a wonderful Wednesday, Florida State fans. Keep it here at The Daily Nole for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State basketball flipped the script on Tuesday afternoon and gained a commitment from transfer forward Malik Osborne.

Osborne played for the Rice Owls during the 2017-18 basketball season. As a freshman, he started 27 games for the Owls and averaged nine points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He also came up with 24 blocks and 19 steals. Osborne shot a little over 50 percent from the field and 26 percent from deep.

While he will be unable to play the 2018-19 season due to transfer rules, Osborne still fills a hole in the Florida State frontcourt. Ike Obiagu’s unexpected departure earlier this summer meant that the Seminoles would be down a talented big man. Osborne figures to fill that need and turn into a capable scorer.

Between the Lines

There were no other FSU athletic events on Tuesday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

News and Notes

Top 100 recruit and current Georgia commit Trezmen Marshall was on Florida State’s campus Tuesday. Marshall projects as a linebacker at the next level, a position that the Seminoles have made a priority in the 2019 class.
