It’s Monday, Florida State fans. As your work week begins, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The rumors that Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher could leave the Seminoles for College Station and Texas A&M don’t seem to be dying anytime soon.

According to a report from KPRC in Houston, a deal is in place and Fisher will become the next head coach of the Aggies following FSU’s regular season finale against Louisiana-Monroe. A report from the Tallahassee Democrat says that is not the case as far as FSU officials are concerned.

In his tenure at FSU, Fisher is 83-23 with three ACC titles, five major bowl appearances and the 2013 national championship. Texas A&M is reportedly offering Fisher more money. It just fired Kevin Sumlin, who was 51-26 in six seasons with the program.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s basketball defeated Samford on Sunday, 87-62, behind 29 points from Shakayla Thomas.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

News and Notes

Florida State volleyball middle blocker Taryn Knuth has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week.

FSU defensive end Brian Burns was named the ACC’s Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s win over Florida.

FSU safety Derwin James was named first-team All-ACC on Monday. Four other FSU players made the second and third teams.
