The Daily Nole — May 9, 2017: FSU Women’s Golf in Second at NCAA Regionals

It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. To help get you through your work week, we’ll update the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

After one day of the NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals in Columbus, Florida State finds itself in second place.

The Seminoles sit just two strokes back of rival Florida at +11. Florida State is three strokes ahead of third place Purdue and host Ohio State.

Individually, Morgane Metraux is tied for second place at even par, two strokes back of the overall leader, Marta Martin Garcia from Purdue. The regional continues on Tuesday and concludes on Wednesday. The top six teams will advance to the NCAA Championships.

Between the Lines

Women’s golf was the only FSU athletic event scheduled for Monday.

On the Agenda

In addition to golf, Florida State baseball will wrap up its non-conference slate against Jacksonville. The contest begins at 6 p.m. and airs on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

A petition has been started to restore former FSU head coach Bobby Bowden’s vacated wins.

4-star athlete Ronald Thompkins has committed to Florida State. The Seminoles now have the No. 1 recruiting class for 2019.

Florida State scored a season-high 21 runs in in Tuesday’s 21-2 win over Jacksonville.
