FSU’s Rhett Aplin Out for Remainder of Season

Florida State baseball received another piece of bad news on Monday, as head coach Mike Martin announced that leading hitter Rhett Aplin was out for the remainder of the season with a foot injury.

Aplin was arguably the best batter for Florida State this season. He recorded a batting average of .322 on 46 hits, including six home runs and 24 RBIs. He was one of seven players that started 40 or more game for the Seminoles as well.

Aplin had been a bright spot in a lineup that was inconsistent for most of the season. Injury luck has not been on FSU’s side for most of the year, with injuries being sustained by key starters like Drew Mendoza, Jackson Lueck, and Matt Henderson.

Aplin was also not the first players to be lost for the rest of the season. Less than a month prior, Tyler Daughtry suffered an ACL injury that prompted the same news.

Florida State has seven regular season games left. That includes series against ACC opponents Wake Forest and Louisville. The Seminoles are currently 31-18 on the year and 11-12 in the ACC.
