The Daily Nole — May 10, 2017: FSU Women’s Golf Falls to Third in Columbus

Lead Story

On the second day of the NCAA Regionals in Columbus, Ohio, Florida State’s women’s golf team fell a spot from second to third, but the Seminoles are still in position to advance.

At +21 through two rounds, FSU is seven strokes back of first-place Florida and six strokes back of second-place Ohio State. The Seminoles enter the final day 12 strokes ahead of seventh-place Texas A&M. The top six teams advance to the NCAA Championships.

Among individuals, Morgane Metraux has been the top performer for the Seminoles at +2, which is tied for fourth and three strokes back of leader Maddie Szeryk of Texas A&M. The regional will wrap up on Wednesday.

Between the Lines

In addition to golf, Florida State baseball hammered Jacksonville on Tuesday night, 21-2.

On the Agenda

Women’s golf is the only scheduled FSU athletic event for Wednesday.

News and Notes

Wide receiver and Texas Tech transfer Jonathan Giles announced his top 10 schools on Tuesday, listing FSU, Ohio State, Louisville, Georgia, Wisconsin, LSU, Tennessee, Purdue, SMU and Oregon. Giles finished with 1,158 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.

Florida State women’s golf advanced to the NCAA Championships by finishing third at the NCAA Regional Championships in Columbus.

FSU softball’s Jessica Warren and Jessica Burroughs were each among 10 finalists for USA Softball Player of the Year.
