The Daily Nole — Feb. 27, 2019: Harrod Earns National Recognition, FSU Sweeps ACC Honors

Lead Story

For the second week in a row, one Florida State softball senior earned national honors while the Seminoles swept the ACC weekly honors.

FSU senior shortstop Cali Harrod was named both the ACC Player of the Week and the NFCA National Player of the Week after going 10-for-14 in six games with five extra base hits, including two home runs, eight RBIs and 12 runs scored. It is the first time in Harrod’s career that she has been named ACC Player of the Week. Outfielder Zoe Casas was named ACC Player of the Week and USA Softball National Player of the Week last week.

Also honored by the conference was redshirt senior Meghan King as the ACC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and seventh time in her career. King went 3-0 with a save while allowing just one earned run in 11.1 innings. King also struck out 17 batters.

FSU will be in Orlando this weekend for the UCF Invitational. The Seminoles will face Toledo, Louisiana Tech, Dartmouth and UCF.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball’s scheduled contest at South Florida for Tuesday was canceled due to rain.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s swimming will begin the ACC Championships in Greensboro on Wednesday.

FSU men’s tennis junior Alex Knaff and sophomore Sebastian Arcila earned ACC Doubles Team of the Week.
