It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. As you get into your week, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State failed to sign a quarterback in the last two recruiting cycles, but FSU head coach Willie Taggart may have found a solution.

On Sunday, Western Michigan quarterback Wyatt Rector announced that he would transfer to Florida State. According to reports, Rector will arrive as a preferred walk-on with a chance to earn a scholarship.

A 2018 3-star prospect out of Leesburg, Rector originally chose the Broncos over the likes of Iowa State, Virginia and South Florida. Rector will likely apply for a waiver with the hopes of being eligible right away.

Rector is the second transfer quarterback to join FSU this offseason along with former Louisville signal-caller Jordan Travis, who also hopes for a waiver. Redshirt sophomore James Blackman is the projected starter, but with another former 3-star prospect and preferred walk-on, Nolan McDonald, FSU may have four capable bodies at the position.
