Lead Story

Florida State women’s basketball remained perfect on the road on Sunday with an improbable comeback win at Virginia Tech, 56-54.

The Seminoles trailed by as many as 11 in the second half and by three with under a minute to go when an unsportsmanlike foul on the Hokies led to a pair of Nicki Ekhomu free throws to cut the lead to one at 54-53 with 40 seconds to play. Nausia Woolfolk put FSU ahead for good by making two free throws with 22 seconds to play as the Seminoles closed the game on a 14-4 run. Virginia Tech had a 3-point look in the final second, but it went awry.

Woolfolk scored a career-high 27 points with 23 coming in the second half to go with six steals. Ekhomu added 16 points in the win for the Seminoles. Trinity Baptiste led the Hokies with 16 points. Regan Magarity finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Between the Lines

In addition to women’s hoops, FSU men’s basketball defeated Miami on Sunday night, 78-66. FSU men’s tennis suffered its first loss to Tulane, 4-2.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

FSU hoops is No. 25 in this week’s AP Poll, but fell out of the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The ACC will name players of the week for various sports on Monday.

Former FSU defensive back Jalen Ramsey caught a touchdown for the AFC in Sunday’s Pro Bowl.
