A prominent Florida State University contributor passed away on Friday in his Ocala home at the age of 81, according to a report from the Tallahassee Democrat.

Al Dunlap and his family had recently pledged more than $20 million to FSU’s “Unconquered” campaign, which included significant upgrades to Florida State’s athletic facilities. The Student Success Center on campus and Champions Club at Doak Campbell Stadium are named in honor of Al Dunlap and his wife Judy.

According to the report, Dunlap’s relationship with FSU dates back to 1995 when he was invited to campus as a guest speaker. Over more than two decades, the Dunlap family donated more than $40 million to Florida State.

Between the Lines

FSU track and field completed events at Clemson, Columbia and Texas Tech on Saturday. FSU women’s tennis knocked off Clemson at the ITA Kick-Off, 4-0. The men took down Texas Tech 4-1 in the ITA Kick-Off. FSU swimming and diving defeated Florida Atlantic.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s tennis wraps up the ITA Kick-Off on Sunday while both the men and women’s basketball teams will be on the road. The women play at Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra. The men visit Miami at 6 p.m. EST on ESPNU.

FSU defensive tackle Demarcus Christmas participated in the Senior Bowl on Saturday.

Former FSU defensive backs Derwin James and Jalen Ramsey will star for the AFC in the NFL’s Pro Bowl on Sunday.

FSU hoops defeated Miami on Sunday night in Coral Gables, 78-66.

2-star kicker Ryan Fitzgerald committed to Florida State on Sunday night.
