The Daily Nole — Nov. 1, 2018: FSU’s Burns Named Semifinalist for Bednarik

It’s November, Florida State fans. As your work week nears a close and the weekend nears, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Earlier this week, Florida State junior defensive end Brian Burns was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which annually goes to the nation’s top defensive player.

Burns was one of 20 players to make the list for the award annually given by the Maxwell Football Club. For the season, Burns has 28 tackles and 11.5 for loss to go with an ACC-leading nine sacks and three forced fumbles.

Three finalists for the award will be named on Nov. 19. The winner will be announced on Dec. 6. No FSU player has ever won the award annually given since 1995.
