Lead Story

Florida State volleyball got back over .500 for the season on Friday night in Tallahassee.

The Seminoles knocked off NC State in straight sets, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22. Payton Caffrey finished with 13 kills to lead FSU while Brianne Burkert and Adrian Ell finished with 19 and 17 assists, respectively. Melissa Evans added 12 kills to lead NC State.

The contest moves both teams to 8-7 on the season while the Seminoles move to 4-1 in conference. FSU will remain home to face North Carolina on Sunday in a contest where Gabrielle Reece will have her jersey retired.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU volleyball, both the men’s and women’s tennis teams were at the All-American Championships on Friday. FSU women’s tennis also began the Wildcat Invitational at Northwestern.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis will continue the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday. FSU swimming and diving opens the season against Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh. FSU football will be at Miami in a contest that begins at 3:30 p.m. EST on ABC.

News and Notes

Former FSU tight end Nick O’Leary was promoted to the Miami Dolphins’ 53-man roster.

4-star forward Patrick Williams committed to FSU on Saturday.

FSU was defeated by rival Miami on Saturday, 28-27.
