It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. As your day goes along and the weekend concludes, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Following Florida State’s 28-27 loss to Miami on Saturday, a controversial call has drawn scrutiny and for good reason.

With the Seminoles leading 27-21 early in the fourth quarter, FSU looked to have pulled two scores in front again when D.J. Matthews caught what appeared to be a lateral from quarterback Deondre Francois and found Keith Gavin for a 45-yard touchdown. Unfortunately for FSU, Francois’ initial throw was ruled to be forward and the play was called back on an illegal forward pass call.

Replay appears to illustrate that the initial pass was a lateral, but the play was never reviewed. FSU head coach Willie Taggart told reporters after the game that he was told that the play could not be challenged. Had the touchdown stood, it could have a game-changer in a contest where FSU blew a 20-point lead.
