It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. As your week nears the midway point, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The hits keep coming for Florida State football. On Monday night, head coach Willie Taggart announced that running back Khalan Laborn is out for the season. Previously, Taggart had said that there was a chance Laborn could return later this year.

Laborn injured his left leg during the Samford game on a kickoff return. He received the ball and ran it down the right side of the field before taking a brutal hit to his lower half. As he was carted off the field, most assumed he wouldn’t be playing for the rest of 2018.

The initial diagnosis was a dislocated knee, seemingly confirming the initial fears. But after Taggart’s comments last weekend, there was some hope that it wasn’t as serious as first believed. Those hopes were dashed during the Call-In Show on Monday night. Taggart commented that while Laborn underwent surgery on the affected knee, doctors discovered that it was more damaged than previously thought.

Many had penciled in Laborn as a breakout candidate for this season. He is a former 5-star running back from the 2017 class, who redshirted his freshman year.
