The new Florida State athletic year gets underway on Thursday night as Florida State soccer takes on Vanderbilt at home.

Last year saw Florida State as an athletic program finish ninth in the Learfield Directors Cup. The Seminoles captured ACC titles in baseball, men’s indoor and outdoor track and field, women’s indoor track and field and softball.

FSU softball would go on to win the program’s first fastpitch national championship with an improbable Women’s College World Series run. FSU beach volleyball won the CCSA crown and reached the national championship dual before falling to UCLA.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

FSU soccer hosts Vanderbilt on Thursday night at 7 p.m. EST.

News and Notes

All four Athlon Sports pickers chose FSU to beat Virginia Tech on Labor Day.

FSU defensive end Tre Lawson is no longer with the team, head coach Willie Taggart confirmed Thursday.

FSU soccer defeated Vanderbilt on Thursday night, 1-0.
