The Daily Nole — April 5, 2018: Wilson Tears MCL, Out for Spring

Lead Story

The news from Florida State’s practice on Wednesday was split. According to reports, longtime FSU head coach legend Bobby Bowden returned to practice for the first time since retiring following the 2009 season, but one important defensive player will miss the rest of the spring.

Defensive tackle Marvin Wilson reportedly suffered a torn MCL and will be shut down for the remainder of the spring. FSU head coach Willie Taggart said Wilson is not expected to miss the season.

A former 5-star prospect out of the Houston area, Wilson committed to FSU on National Signing Day in 2017. As a freshman, Wilson recorded seven tackles, including 0.5 for loss.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball defeated Jacksonville on Wednesday night, 6-2. FSU softball swept a doubleheader over Louisiana-Lafayette, winning 8-0 and 7-1.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

FSU men’s tennis remained No. 7 in the UTSA Poll.

FSU’s John Park was named ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month.

FSU redshirt senior Kylee Hanson has been named as a finalist for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award for softball.
