The Daily Nole — Nov. 17, 2017: FSU Prez Affirms Support for Fisher

It’s Friday, Florida State fans. That means we’re just one day away from the homecoming game between FSU and Delaware State. As the weekend nears, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics as we update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

Most Florida State fans seem to be behind head football coach Jimbo Fisher despite a disappointing season. The same is true of the university president.

“Jimbo’s here forever,” FSU President John Thrasher told the Florida Times Union. “You know, as long as he wants to be, he’s good. He’s as good as gold. He’s going to be here.”

The Seminoles are off to their worst start at 3-6 since 1976, but Fisher’s accomplishments speak for themselves. In eight years at FSU, Fisher’s teams have finished in the top 25 seven times, top 10 four times and have won three ACC titles and one national championship. Fisher was unlikely to go anywhere following the dismal season and one important FSU figure has acknowledged that.
