Things have gone from bad to worse for Florida State football.
As first reported by Tomahawk Nation on Sunday night, junior running back Jacques Patrick will miss significant time with a knee injury suffered during Saturday’s 31-28 loss to Louisville. A source close to the program has told The Daily Nole Sunday that FSU believes Patrick to have suffered a torn meniscus, which is the same injury that sidelined safety Derwin James for the final 11 games last season.
After playing behind all-time leading rusher Dalvin Cook for two years, Patrick was coming into his own for Florida State in 2017. For the year, Patrick had rushed for a career-high 434 yards on 76 carries and a team-best 5.7 yards per carry. Patrick had one touchdown on the season in addition to 13 catches for 88 yards — both career-highs.
With Patrick likely done for the season, freshman Cam Akers will likely get the bulk of the carries. Sophomore Amir Rasul will likely be the main reserve behind Akers.
Between the Lines
FSU men’s golf finished the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Championship in 13th place on Sunday. FSU women’s tennis wrapped up the ITA Southeast Regional Championships. FSU volleyball fell to Louisville in straight sets. FSU soccer defeated Pittsburgh, 2-1, on Senior Day.

FSU safety Derwin James has been named a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist.
The ACC will announce players of the week for various sports.
FSU’s Nov. 4 contest with Syracuse will begin at 12:20 p.m. EST and air on the ACC Network, the conference announced Monday.
