It’s Sunday, Florida State fans and for the first time in 2017, the Seminoles are in the win column. Keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics as we update the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State won’t go winless for September and won’t start 0-3 for the first time since 1976 — Bobby Bowden’s first year as head coach.

The Seminoles avoided disaster, thanks to a 40-yard touchdown pass from James Blackman to Auden Tate with less than a minute to play on Saturday to down previously undefeated Wake Forest, 26-19. With games against ranked Miami, Louisville, Clemson and Florida teams still on the schedule, the contest was must-win for FSU to keep the nation’s longest bowl streak alive.

Florida State will host 14th-ranked Miami this upcoming week. The contest was originally scheduled for Sept. 16, but moved because of Hurricane Irma.

Between the Lines

FSU football defeated Wake Forest on Saturday, 26-19. FSU women’s tennis competed in the Bedford Cup and Wildcat Invitational. The men took part in the All American Pre-Qualifying/Qualifying.
