Following successful season-ending knee surgery on Tuesday, Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois took to Instagram to deliver a heartfelt message.

After being named ACC Rookie of the Year as a redshirt freshman in 2016, Francois was injured on a sack by Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison with FSU trailing 24-7 in the final quarter. FSU’s leading receiver on Saturday night, Keith Gavin, said the team was dedicating the remainder of the season to Francois.

FSU will play its first game of the season without their signal-caller on Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe. True freshman James Blackman will get the start.

News and Notes

Olivia Nelson-Ododa, one of the nation’s top women’s hoops prospects, according to ESPN, announced her top 6 schools. FSU was included, along with Duke, South Carolina, Stanford, Connecticut and Georgia.

FSU’s athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony was moved from Friday night to Oct. 20.

FSU women’s golf is ranked 12th in the preseason Golfweek Poll.

FSU’s 2017-18 men’s basketball schedule was unveiled on Wednesday.

FSU’s home opener against Louisiana-Monroe set for Saturday has been cancelled and won’t be made up.
