The Daily Nole — Sept. 8, 2017: FSU-ULM Won’t Be Rescheduled

Phil Kelly/FSU athletics

Happy Friday, Florida State fans. Unfortunately, there will be no FSU athletic events this weekend and the majority of us are hunkering down to prepare for Hurricane Irma. While you still have internet, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s home opener against Louisiana-Monroe was cancelled late Thursday night and word came later in the evening that it would not be made up.

Per our research and our friends at NoleFan.org, this appears to be the first Florida State football ever cancelled because of weather. The 2004 opener against Miami was pushed back from Labor Day to the following Friday night, because of Hurricane Frances.

Depending on how hard Florida is hit by the storm, Miami is slated to visit FSU next on Sept. 16. If that falls through, those two schools share a common bye week on Oct. 7.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer’s Friday night contest at Florida has been cancelled.

News and Notes

Former FSU guard Derwin Kitchen was inducted into the Iowa Western Community College Hall of Fame, according to a release.
