The Daily Nole — July 19, 2017: FSU Raises Over $6,500 at Lift for Life

Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As you get ready to take on the day, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State football spent the early parts of Tuesday evening flexing its muscle for a good cause.

The Seminoles hosted the annual “Lift for Life” charity event. The event in conjunction with Uplifting Athletes, consists of a number of strength contests and raises funds for Kidz1stFund, a nonprofit that provides research funding for Fanconi anemia.

That’s a rare blood disease that affects about one in 160,000 people worldwide. FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher’s son, Ethan, has the disease.

Coming into Tuesday, FSU had a goal to raise $5,000. It was exceeded as the team raised more than $6,500.

FSU quarterback Deondre Francois was named to the Davey O’Brien Award watch list on Wednesday.

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher will host his second 2017 camp, beginning on Wednesday.

FSU’s Alec Eberle, Tarvarus McFadden and Derwin James were all named to the preseason All-ACC team on Wednesday.
