Florida State’s men’s basketball team had its best season on the court in five years this past season, but the program was recognized Wednesday for what it did in the classroom.
According to a release, FSU has received the Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The honor goes to basketball teams with a collective grade point average of at least 3.0. The Seminoles as a team put together a collective 3.03 GPA, which was the best under head coach Leonard Hamilton.
Senior guard/forward Brandon Allen was named to the NABC honors court, which recognizes career academic achievement. Allen becomes the first FSU player since the award’s inception in 2007 to earn that honor.

4-star receiver Marquez Ezzard is close to making a decision between FSU and Georgia, according to reports.
2019 4-star receiver Jashawn Sheffield could commit to FSU soon, per the Tallahassee Democrat.
FSU running back Jacques Patrick was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list on Thursday.
FSU 6-7 defensive end Chaz Neal on Thursday.
In addition to Miami and Clemson, FSU hoops will face Louisville and Boston College twice this upcoming season.
