Florida State is now one scholarship over the limit of 85.

According to a report from Warchant, redshirt senior tight end Jeremy Kerr has received a medical hardship and will not be part of the team in 2017. Best known for his blocking ability, Kerr caught just one pass during his FSU career, but it was for a 1-yard touchdown in a 27-2 win over Florida to conclude the 2015 regular season.

Kerr underwent shoulder surgery this offseason. Kerr is the fifth player to leave the program this offseason and the third in less than a week. The Daily Nole was the first to report that linebacker Sh’Mar Kilby-Lane is no longer with the team on Thursday.

Defensive end Keith Bryant, center Ryan Hofeld and guard Wilson Bell are the other three players to leave FSU this offseason. Despite the loss of Kerr, FSU still has five scholarship tight ends, including Ryan Izzo and Mavin Saunders who got the bulk of the reps last season.
