Q&A with WR Tommy Bush: FSU a Major Player

We’re about eight months away from National Signing Day, but things are always hot on the recruiting trail as Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher and company look to notch yet another top-10 recruiting class.

One position of need is certainly wide receiver. The Seminoles have just seven scholarship players on the roster at the position and are yet to get a commitment from a receiver for 2018, but that could change soon.

Though his name hasn’t been closely associated with FSU so far, 4-star Tommy Bush is a candidate to fill that void. The 6-5, 190-pound target from Schertz, Texas is listed as the No. 170 player in the county, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the 33rd best player at his position.

Bush, a highly-sought target, has an FSU offer and was gracious enough to take the time to answer some of our questions about himself, FSU and the recruiting process:

JB: What are your thoughts about Florida State, now that you’ve visited the campus? What stood out?

Bush: (I) loved Coach Fisher and (Tight Ends) Coach (Tim) Brewster and the educational center. Also, the dorms were some of the best I’ve seen in the last few visits. I just like the offensive way they approach the game.

JB: FSU obviously has a huge need at wide receiver, but what else do you find appealing about the Seminoles?

Bush: Just the fact that it’s on me if I get a chance to start day one and I could have my sports management degree in three and a half years if I work at it.

JB: Is there a player out there you compare your game to or idolize?

Bush: (There’s) not really a name, but I love Julio Jones. He’s fast, physical and can get vertical ASAP. I have to still work on my routes to become more crisp.

JB: Has FSU become a major player in your recruitment? Do you plan on visiting again before deciding, either with camps or an official visit?

Bush: Yes sir, they have impressed me and my family and the (official visit) will be declared later in the year.

JB: What are your favorite parts of the recruiting process?

Bush: Best part is meeting some of the best coaches and players in the nation and having them either wanting you to play with them or for them; it’s a honor for sure.

JB: Do you have any interests outside of football?

Bush: I like playing video games and eating and just chilling with my family; they are fun to be around.

JB: In terms of style, do you have any preferences for either a pro or spread offense?

Bush: Either one would be great as long as it translated to the next level.
