It appears Florida State has moved one step closer to reaching the scholarship limit of 85.

With a good amount of confidence, a source close to the situation said that linebacker Sh’Mar Kilby-Lane is no longer with the program.

Kilby-Lane was a 4-star recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, in 2015. Kilby-Lane recorded four tackles as a freshman in 2015, but was academically ineligible for all of last season.

The athletic department is working to confirm Kilby-Lane’s status with the team. He is still listed on the official FSU athletic site’s roster. The reasons for his departure are unknown at this time.

The departure of Kilby-Lane would be FSU’s second reported attrition in as many days. Tomahawk Nation was the first to report on Wednesday that defensive end Keith Bryant was no longer with the team. Offensive linemen Ryan Hoefeld and Wilson Bell have also left the program this offseason.

With the loss of Kilby-Lane, FSU would be down to 87 scholarship players — two over the limit. Florida State still has 10 scholarship linebackers on the roster.
