The Daily Nole — April 18, 2017: FSU Given Second-Best Odds to Win CFB Playoff

It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. We’ll try to get you through it with the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State was given the second best odds to win the 2017 College Football National Championship, according to Westgate Las Vegas Superbook on Monday. The team with the best odds is the team the Seminoles will open the year with.

Alabama was given 7-to-2 odds to win the 2017 title. Coming in second at 7-to-2 was Florida State, Ohio State and USC. Oklahoma was listed at 10-to-1, Michigan at 12-to-1 and then Clemson, Louisville and LSU all at 15-to-1.

FSU is coming off a 10-3 in which the Seminoles finished No. 8 in the country and won the Orange Bowl. Florida State has appeared in five straight major bowl games.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball scored two runs in the seventh to take the game and series from Clemson on Monday night, 7-6.

On the Agenda

FSU softball will visit Troy for a doubleheader. The first game starts at 5 p.m. EST.

The Daily Nole has confirmed that 5-star running back Khalan Laborn has qualified.

News and Notes

Delays with construction at the Atlanta Falcons’ new stadium are not expected to affect the 2017 opener between FSU and Alabama on Sept. 2.
