The Daily Nole — April 19, 2017: Lytton Announces Top 5

Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your week starts to wind down, we’ll keep you posted on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Some thought Florida State might land a huge commitment on Tuesday as Anthony Lytton, a 5-star cornerback, announced big news for later in the evening. When that time rolled around, the news wasn’t as big as anticipated.

What Lytton did do on Tuesday night however, was name his top 5 and Florida State made the cut. Joining FSU was Alabama, Clemson, Maryland and Penn State.

At 5-10 and 170 pounds, Lytton is currently the third-ranked cornerback for 2018 and the No. 26 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Lytton is from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, but widely considered an FSU lean.

Between the Lines

FSU softball swept a doubleheader with Troy on Tuesday, winning 9-3 and 2-0.

On the Agenda

FSU baseball hosts Stetson at 6 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU softball slipped to No. 2 in this week’s NFCA Poll behind rival Florida.

Will Zirzow will start for FSU against Stetson on Wednesday night.

The ACC football championship will return to Charlotte through 2020.

Five FSU women’s swimmers and divers were named to the ACC’s All-Academic team on Wednesday.

Six FSU men’s swimmers and divers were named to the ACC’s All-Academic team on Wednesday.

FSU beach volleyball’s Macy Jerger was named the CCSA Scholarship Athlete of the Year.
