Happy hump day, Florida State fans. We’re just one day from FSU’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in five years and to help get you there, we’ll update the news and notes section as the day goes on.

Lead Story

Highly-touted Florida State freshman infielder Drew Mendonza took to Twitter on Tuesday to report that his cast would soon be removed.

A top prospect from Minneola, Mendoza underwent surgery last month to repair a broken thumb. Mendoza is expected to fill in for Florida State at one of the corner infield spots.

If Mendoza were able to hold down a spot in the lineup for FSU, he could be the fourth freshman to play every day for the Seminoles. The other three include Tyler Daughtry, J.C. Flowers and Nick Derr.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball was shut out by rival Florida on Tuesday night, 1-0. FSU softball blanked Florida Gulf Coast 7-0 behind a complete game, 3-hit shutout from Jessica Burroughs. Ellie Cooper drove in three runs.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving will be in Indianapolis for the NCAA Championships. FSU softball will be in Fort Myers to take on Canisius and Florida Gulf Coast. FSU baseball will also take on Florida Gulf Coast.

News and Notes

4-star wide receiver Joshua Moore narrowed his list of schools to 10 on Tuesday and Florida State made the cut.
