Happy hump day, Florida State fans. We’re one week from National Signing Day. To help you get there and through the rest of the day, we’ll update the news and notes section.

Lead Story

DeMarco Artis, a 3-star linebacker, who had been committed to Florida State won’t be coming to Tallahassee. According to a report from 247Sports, Artis and FSU have “parted ways”.

A 3-star prospect from Seminole High School in Sanford, Artis flipped from UCF to Florida State in August. Artis is listed as the No. 73 outside linebacker for the 2017 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and No. 534 overall prospect. Artis did injure his knee in a high school playoff victory over Lake Brantley.

Despite the loss of Artis, FSU still has the No. 5 overall class for 2017, per the Composite. The Seminoles have two other linebackers committed in DeCalon Brooks and Adonis Thomas and are still pursuing Levi Jones, a Texas product, and Leonard Warner, a prospect from Georgia. Artis is expected to visit Oregon this weekend.
