The Daily Nole — Oct. 28, 2017: FSU Has Worst Season of Fisher Era

It’s the weekend, Florida State fans. As you settle in to relax or spend time with your family, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The 2017 season will officially be the worst for Florida State under head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Coming into the year, FSU had not lost more than four games under Fisher and it had not done that since 2011. On Friday night, the Seminoles fell to 2-5 with a 35-3 loss at Boston College.

To preserve the nation’s longest bowl streak, Florida State will need to win its final four games. After its worst 7-game start since Bobby Bowden’s first season of 1976, that seems like an extremely tall task.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s football loss at Boston College, FSU softball played its Garnet and Gold scrimmage and took on Thomas University in an exhibition on Friday. FSU’s men’s cross country team finished fifth at the ACC Championships while the women finished ninth. FSU volleyball defeated North Carolina in straight sets.

On the Agenda

FSU swimming and diving will be out west to take on Arizona State on Saturday.

News and Notes

FSU’s softball scrimmage with Mississippi State has been moved back from Saturday to Sunday.

FSU softball’s Mini Golf Challenge fundraiser takes place on Saturday.
