Florida State will look to do to Boston College on Friday night what it couldn’t against Miami on Oct. 7 and that’s to win eight straight in the series. The Seminoles are coming off a 31-28 loss to Louisville and are just 2-4 for the season.

The Eagles have won consecutive games to get to .500 at 4-4. Before Friday night’s contest kicks off, check out our coverage of the ACC match-up:

With some hours to spare before the game gets underway, here’s some relevant facts and notes to ponder:

  • Boston College is one of only two teams that Jimbo Fisher has defeated in each of his first seven years as FSU head coach. The other was Miami, who defeated the Seminoles on Oct. 7, 24-20.
  • Bobby Bowden’s first road win as FSU head coach came against Boston College on Oct. 9, 1976 by a score of 28-9.
  • Friday’s contest will be just the third since Boston College joined the ACC in 2005 where neither team was ranked for the match-up. The previous two were in 2009 and 2011.
  • The only home win for Boston College over Florida State since joining the ACC came in 2009 by a 28-21 score.
  • During FSU’s undefeated regular seasons of 2013 and 2014, Boston College served as its closest game each year.
  • The contest between Florida State and Boston College will be the third straight on a Friday night. The Seminoles had previously not played a Friday night regular season game since 2004 against Miami and that contest was pushed back from Labor Day.
  • FSU looks to avoid starting 2-4 in ACC play for the first time since 2006. FSU hasn’t started 2-5 through seven games since 1976 — Bobby Bowden’s first year as head coach.
  • Florida State’s last shutout came against Boston College in 2015, 14-0. The Seminoles took a shutout into the fourth quarter last season in an eventual 45-7 victory in Tallahassee.
  • Boston College hasn’t won three straight ACC games since 2013 when it beat Virginia Tech, N.C. State and Maryland in a 4-week span.
