Happy hump day, Florida State fans. We’ll do our best to keep you up to date on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Just more than a month after beating Michigan in the Orange Bowl, Florida State started its offseason conditioning program known as “Fourth Quarter Drills” on Tuesday.

Florida State is coming off a fifth straight 10-win season and a No. 8 national ranking. The Seminoles will have to replace key players like running back and all-time leading rusher Dalvin Cook and sacks leader DeMarcus Walker, but have plenty of talent coming back, headlined by 2016 ACC Rookie of the Year, Deondre Francois, the team’s starting quarterback and safety Derwin James.

Florida State will likely begin spring practice in mid-March before wrapping up the spring on April 8 with the Garnet and Gold game, which will return to Tallahassee after a 1-year stint in Orlando, so that renovations could be made to Doak Campbell Stadium. FSU will open the 2017 season in Atlanta against Alabama on Sept. 2.

Florida State’s men’s golf team wrapped up the Sea Best Invitational tied for seventh on Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU’s men’s basketball team will host N.C. State at 7 p.m. EST. The contest will air on ESPN2.

News and Notes

Florida State’s women’s basketball team moved up to No. 4 in the USA Today Coaches Poll

FSU has offered a scholarship to 2018 linebacker Dax Hollifield. Hollifield is the No. 117 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

FSU guard Landon Dickerson has been named to the All-ACC Academic team.

FSU women’s players Leticia Romero and Shakayla Thomas have been named to the Wooden Award 30 watch list.

FSU’s men’s basketball team defeated N.C. State on Wednesday night by a score of 95-71. Jonathan Isaac led FSU with 21 points.
