Lead Story

In front of a packed house on Wednesday night, Florida State softball couldn’t find the offense as the Seminoles dropped their third straight contest with a 4-0 home loss to Florida.

Florida pitcher Kelly Barnhill shut down FSU by throwing a 2-hit shutout with three walks and nine strikeouts. Sydney Sherrill had both hits for the Seminoles.

The Gators were able to break a scoreless tie in the fourth inning on Wednesday night with three runs. Hannah Adams highlighted the frame with a 2-run double on what would be a 3-for-3 night. Sophia Reynoso also had three hits for Florida.

With the loss, the Seminoles fall to 38-8 on the season after a 22-0 start. FSU opens a home series with Boston College on Friday.

Between the Lines

FSU softball’s contest with Florida was the only athletic event scheduled for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s tennis opens the ACC Tournament on Thursday against Duke at 11:30 a.m. FSU track and field begins both the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays. FSU men’s and women’s golf will begin the ACC Championships. FSU baseball visits Virginia at 6 p.m. EST. Both the baseball and tennis contests will air on ACC Network Extra.

FSU beach volleyball’s Macy Jerger was named CCSA Student-Athlete of the Year for the third straight year.

FSU men’s tennis topped Duke in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday, 4-2.

FSU baseball clobbered Virginia on Thursday night in Charlottesville, 14-2.
