The Daily Nole — Nov. 25, 2021: FSU Hoops Survives Scare from Boston University in OT

Lead Story

Florida State basketball let a late lead slip away in regulation on Wednesday night, but rallied to knock off Boston University on Matthew Cleveland’s putback with two seconds left in overtime, 81-80.

The Seminoles led by five with just 16 seconds left, but Boston University’s Anthony Morales answered with five straight points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. The Terriers were also aided by FSU’s Anthony Polite missing the front end of a 1-and-1.

Boston University led by as many as four in overtime, but after a key stop late, the Seminoles had one last chance. Caleb Mills was unable to get the shot to go, but Cleveland followed the miss for the winning points.

Mills and Cleveland each finished with 17 to pace FSU while Polite and Cam’Ron Fletcher each added 11 points. Javante McCoy paced the Terriers with a game-high 22 points. Sukhmail Mathon tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Terriers.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU hoops’ victory, FSU volleyball fell to Notre Dame, 3-0.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s hoops will take on BYU in the St. Pete Showcase on Thursday. The contest begins at 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on FloSports.

News and Notes

It’s unclear who will start for Florida at quarterback against FSU on Saturday, per reports.
