The Daily Nole — Nov. 23, 2021: FSU Hoops Tops Missouri to Win Jacksonville Classic

Lead Story

Florida State basketball is champion of the Jacksonville Classic. In what may have been their best performance of the young season, the Seminoles blasted Missouri at UNF Arena on Monday night, 81-58.

FSU jumped to a 27-10 lead and never looked back. The Seminoles shot 61% for the game and never trailed. Anthony Polite paced FSU with 14 points on an efficient 6-for-9 shooting. Cam’Ron Fletcher tallied 12 points while Matthew Cleveland and Malik Osborne each added 10.

Amari Davis and Kobe Brown added 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Missouri in the loss.

With the win, FSU improved to 4-1. The Seminoles return home to face Boston University on Wednesday.

Between the Lines

FSU’s basketball victory was the lone scheduled athletic event for Monday.

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

News and Notes

FSU football’s Keir Thomas was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week. Akeem Dent is the ACC Defensive Back of the Week.

FSU cross country’s Lauren Ryan, Adriaan Wildschutt and Ahmed Muhumed received USTFCCCA All-American honors.

FSU softball has unveiled its 2022 schedule. The Seminoles open the season with the JoAnne Graf Classic on Feb. 11.
