Lead Story

Five days after claiming its seventh ACC title in nine years, Florida State soccer is on to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The top-seeded Seminoles opened the NCAA Tournament on Friday night with an easy 3-0 win over South Alabama. In less than a 3-minute span midway through the first half, FSU got goals from Jody Brown and Beata Olsson and never looked back. Emily Madril added a goal in the second half.

Jaelin Howell, Clara Robbins, Yujie Zhao and Maria Alagoa all recorded assists in the win. The Seminoles dominated with 23 shots on goal to just three for the Jaguars.

FSU will move on to the round of 32 where it will face the winner of Sunday’s matchup between SMU and Texas.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU’s soccer victory, FSU cross country participated in the NCAA South Regionals. The FSU women finished second while the men finished third.

On the Agenda

FSU football will host rival Miami on Saturday. The contest begins at 3:30 p.m. ET and airs nationally on ESPN.

News and Notes

FSU men’s golf signed Luke Clanton, Sam Kodak and Jack Bigham to its 2022 class.

FSU men’s cross country athletes Adriaan Wildschutt and Ahmed Muhumed finished first and second, respectively, at the NCAA South Regionals on Friday.
