The Daily Nole — Nov. 11, 2021: FSU Hoops Pummels Penn in Opener, 105-70

Lead Story

Florida State hoops began the 2021-22 season in style on Wednesday night with a 105-70 thrashing of Pennsylvania at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

FSU shot 49% from the field in the victory and held a 20-rebound advantage while forcing 26 turnovers. Malik Osborne paced the Seminoles with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Anthony Polite tallied 17 points while Caleb Mills and RayQuan Evans each added 14.

The Quakers hung around for a while, but a strong end to the first half and beginning to the second by FSU turned the contest into a rout. Penn’s Jordan Dingle led all scorers with 23 points, while shooting 8-for-15 and 5-for-8 from deep.

The victory puts FSU at 1-0 for the second straight season. The Seminoles will hit the road for the first time on Sunday as they aim for an eighth straight victory over rival Florida.

Between the Lines

FSU basketball’s victory was the lone scheduled athletic event for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.
