The Daily Nole — Nov. 10, 2021: FSU Women’s Hoops Opens Season with Rout of North Florida

Florida State women’s hoops began its 2021-22 season with a bang on Tuesday night as it routed North Florida at the Donald L. Tucker Center, 78-50.

The Ospreys jumped to an early 8-5 lead, but FSU responded with a 15-0 run and never looked back. The Seminoles held North Florida to just 32% shooting and held a 16-rebound advantage.

FSU’s Bianca Jackson led all scorers with 13 points while Makayla Timpson added 10. Morgan Jones led all rebounders with 10 in the victory.

Emma Broermann, Tiffany Tolbert and Rhetta Moore all finished with 10 points for North Florida in the loss. With the victory, the Seminoles have now won six straight openers.

Between the Lines

In addition to hoops, FSU volleyball also defeated North Florida on Tuesday night, 3-1.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s basketball opens its 2021-22 season Wednesday night at home against Pennsylvania. The contest begins at 9 p.m. ET and airs on ACC Network.

News and Notes

Former FSU All-American wide receiver Peter Warrick has been selected to the 2021 ACC Honors class.

FSU quarterback Jordan Travis returned to practice on Tuesday after missing last week’s game against NC State with the flu.

FSU hoops is listed as a 19.5-point favorite over Pennsylvania.
