As you start thinking about the weekend, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

Florida State soccer is still undefeated, but it is no longer perfect. The top-ranked Seminoles and No. 7 North Carolina played to a 2-2 tie on Thursday night in Chapel Hill.

Beata Olsson got the scoring started for FSU just more than a minute in, but with less than 11 minutes to play, the Seminoles trailed 2-1. Isabel Cox had scored a pair of goals to give the Tar Heels the lead, but Olsson evened things up in the 80th minute.

FSU finished with 16 shots to 12 for the Tar Heels, but the teams combined for just three in the two overtime periods. Yjie Zhao and Jenna Nighswonger each recorded assists for the Seminoles. FSU goalkeeper Cristina Roque had two saves, including a huge one in overtime.

With the tie, FSU moved to 14-0-1. The Seminoles will remain in North Carolina to face Duke on Sunday.

Between the Lines

FSU’s soccer contest was the lone scheduled athletic event for Friday.

On the Agenda

FSU volleyball will be at Virginia Tech on Friday night. The contest begins at 6 p.m. ET and streams on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

FSU softball will take on Northwest Florida State College on Thursday in an exhibition.

With a win over Massachusetts on Saturday, it would mark FSU’s first 3-game winning streak since 2017.
