Lead Story

After a 9-8 campaign that resulted in a first-round exit from the NCAA Tournament for Florida State women’s basketball, the Seminoles enter the new season with reasonable expectations.

FSU will begin the year ranked No. 16 in the AP Poll. On Wednesday, it was picked to finish fifth in the ACC by both the media and the conference’s coaches.

The two polls were nearly identical as FSU was picked behind NC State, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. Morgan Jones, Kourtney Weber, Bianca Jackson and Valencia Myers are among the key returning players for the Seminoles. FSU also brings in a solid recruiting class.

FSU opens the season on Nov. 9 against North Florida.

FSU men’s golf wrapped up the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in Arkansas on Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer will visit North Carolina in a top-10 matchup on Thursday night. The contest begins at 8 p.m. ET and airs on ACC Network.

News and Notes

FSU softball will take on Tallahassee Community College in an exhibition on Thursday.

FSU men’s tennis will take part in the ITA Southeast Region Championships.

4-star defensive lineman Trevion Williams decommitted from FSU on Wednesday. The Seminoles now have the No. 13 overall class for 2022 and the third-best class in the ACC.

Matthew Gearing has joined the Florida State swimming and diving program as an assistant.

FSU hoops freshman Matthew Cleveland has been named to the Julius Erving Award watch list. The award annually goes to the nation’s top small forward.
