The Daily Nole — Sept. 8, 2021: FSU’s Johnson Earns ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Lead Story

After an impressive Florida State debut, defensive end Jermaine Johnson was honored by the ACC.

On Tuesday, Johnson was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week. In Sunday’s 41-38 overtime loss to Notre Dame to open the season, Johnson tallied seven total tackles, 2.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks.

A redshirt senior transfer from Georgia, Johnson recorded 7.5 sacks in two seasons with the Bulldogs. He’ll try to add to his total on Saturday as FSU plays host to Jacksonville State.

News and Notes

Florida State cross country runners Adriaan Wildschutt and Lauren Ryan were recognized as the ACC Performers of the Week following victories at the Covered Bridge Open.

FSU women’s tennis’ Lesedi Jacobs is ranked No. 71 nationally by ITA. Petra Hule is ranked 125th. The doubles team of Hule and Victoria Allen is ranked No. 20 in the nation.
