Florida State football’s commitment list got a little bit smaller on Wednesday.

4-star quarterback Nicco Marchiol is is no longer considered an FSU commitment. A 6-foot-2, 215-pound signal caller from Arizona, Marichol had been committed to the Seminoles since Jan. 31.

Ranked as the No. 291 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Marichol was one of two quarterbacks committed to FSU. The other was A.J. Duffy, who is ranked as the 76th overall prospect.

The decommitment of Marichol leaves the Seminoles with eight total commitments. FSU fell two spots in the team rankings, per the Composite, from 10th to 12th. It still has the highest-ranked class in the ACC.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU softball will begin the Women’s College World Series on Thursday night against UCLA. The contest begins at 9:30 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

News and Notes

FSU softball pitcher Kathryn Sandercock was named a second-team All-American by NFCA.

Former FSU running back Warrick Dunn, wide receiver Peter Warrick and linebacker Marvin Jones are all candidates for the College Football Hall of Fame.
