The Daily Nole — April 20, 2021: FSU Soccer Garners No. 1 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament

Florida State athletics

It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans.

As your week starts to move along, check out our daily rundown.

Lead Story

It’s been five months since Florida State soccer hoisted the ACC championship trophy, but that didn’t keep the Seminoles from getting the No. 1 overall seed in the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament.

FSU was given the top seed during Monday’s NCAA Tournament Selection Show. Rather than 64 teams, this year’s tournament will feature 48 games and all contests will take place near Cary, N.C. — the same location where FSU claimed the ACC title on Nov. 15.

As the No. 1 overall seed, FSU will get a first-round bye. The Seminoles will face either Elon or Milwaukee on May 1.

During the fall, FSU went 11-0 against an ACC-only schedule. Eight of those victories came by shutout.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.
